Teaser Tuesday!!

Welcome!

Today’s teaser comes from my new WIP. I introduced it a few weeks ago on the Wordpress blog. I’ll just copy and paste it here. Lucky you, if you missed the first post, you can have a double teaser :)

First the introduction:

18 and up! Mature Content!!! (Urban Fantasy)

Lares; Complicated

The Spirit Guardian Trilogy

Blurb:

Life for Ronnie would be absolutely perfect, if it weren’t for one or ten things. There are assignments from the Gods, her sexy mind-reading messenger, her half-Vampire partner, a slippery Necromancer, and whatever the hell happened to throw the sexy Demon Hunting Angel and equally stunning Shifter into her territory. If it weren’t for her best friend Zane, a descendant of Neptune’s, and her drunken Bwbach Fairy, she feels she might go insane. Being the Compitillicii for her territory, there’s a level of responsibility, tact and a daily laundry list added to her already hectic life.
Ronnie and her friends must ban together to protect her territory from all hell breaking loose. After laying her pride aside, Ronnie finds that accepting help is great. Until relationships start changing, assignments get screwy, and she’s forced to do the forbidden.

Exert:

“Damn you Tipper! I had to deal with Marilynn again tonight!” I shout into the now silent house. I toss my keys on the stand, drop my purse on the floor and peel off my boots.
“Drunken Fairies,” I grumble while making my way through debris and garbage to get to the kitchen. It looks like a garbage truck barfed in here.
“Drunken little bugger, you’ll get your fucking whiskey!” I shout. He hates when I yell at him. I hardly ever see him, he likes to be alone. But man, oh man, he’s worse than a pregnant chick without her ice cream when he doesn’t get his whiskey on time. I pop open the bottle, push some garbage off the table and go in search of a clean, unbroken glass.
“I really wish this mess would be cleaned up before I get home from work tomorrow.” I say a silent prayer that Tipper has smelt the whiskey and in ear shot.
I’ve dealt with a womanizing, asshole boss for eight hours, then worked the territory for three hours, trained with my partner, Willa and then had to deal with that damn Necromancer again. Will she ever get the hint? This is my territory. No, I will not allow you to raise the dead to kill my people! Duh! She is truly the definition of dumb blonde for as many times as I have to deal with her. I just wish she never found out about my ties. I’m not allowed to leave the perimeter of my territory. I could gut whoever told her that tid-bit of information.

This week’s teaser:

“All right, so who is on the agenda for today?” I ask.
He slides the wax sealed parchment across the table. You’d think that them being Gods, they would’ve, oh I don’t know, bought notebooks, or invested in the freaking internet. Although, then I’d miss seeing my hottie of a messenger. Who cares he’s older than me, by a thousand years, he’s gorgeous.
“You know I can hear you, right?” he chuckles.
Narrowing my eyes I begin flashing him a dark and dirty bedroom act with yours truly as punishment for reading my thoughts, again. He blushes 10 shades of red and clears his throat a few times.
“I tell you all the time, I can’t help what I think when I like what I see.” I smirk as I rip the wax seal off.
“It is forbidden,” he starts.
“For it to happen yes, but no one said I couldn’t think about it, dream about, or picture it.” I add a precious little public bathroom rendezvous, all up on the walls kind of encounter. “I’ve told you before, ignore what goes on up here,” I say and tap my temple, “focus on what comes out of my mouth.” It’s like telling a teenage, or almost any male, my eyes are up here. My eyes are brown, and when I’m cold they definitely do not poke my eyelids. He chuckles some more and scrubs his hands over his face.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s teaser! Come back next week!

Here’s a little bit about the wonderfully talented Emma Hart!

Emma Hart is a young mum/maid/launderette/personal chef/author who lives in Barnstaple, Devon in England. She lives with a man bearing the title fiancĂ© who is incapable of picking up dirty socks and their one year old little monster who currently shouts 'quack' at everything. When she's not writing or being mum, she enjoys sitting down with a good book to get five minutes peace, which almost never happens. She freely admits to hating talent shows on TV, (The Voice, Xfactor etc) but being completely addicted to them and unable to stop watching. Emma believes there are only two men in the world who can say they truly understand women – their names are Ben & Jerry – because if you didn't understand women there's no way you could create ice-cream that good. She also admits to being a bit eBay obsessive. You will find at least 200 items on her watch list at any one time. Little girl's shoes is another love of hers – just as well because her daughter grows incredibly quickly. Sadly, this is the only one of her obsessions she is able to justify.

Here’s her Twitter-  https://twitter.com/EmmaHartAuthor (she’s super nice, don’t be afraid to say Hi!)
Here’s her Facebook- https://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/YAAuthorEmmaHart?fref=ts (Like her page for sneak peeks into some of her Work In Progresses!)

My will to survive is the first thing to drown.
I know, because I hold it under myself.
After facing severe tragedy in life, Madeline assumes her death will be easy.
But the angels do not come to take her to Heaven.
Instead, what retrieves her is something she never expected: a gargoyle.
Delivered to Truce, the King of the Gargoyles, Madeline now has choices she never wanted.  She has the ability to take over the entire Gargoyle Kingdom, if she is willing to kill the king.  However, looking to prevent takeover, Truce transforms Madeline, thereby granting her the ability to achieve the thing she wants most—death—if she can just find the human recipient for the Gargoyle Gift that she now has to give.  It should be easy.
But lives, whether they are lived or not, are seldom simple, and Madeline’s past still stands in her way. Now, only a voyeur in the life of The Boy with the Golden Rod Voice, Madeline’s must reconcile her own life and death, if she ever hopes to have free reign of her soul.

Teaser inside :)

I recently read a blog post from a fellow author ( http://authorthomasamo.blogspot.com/2012/11/wendy-let-me-explain-something-to-you.html?m=1 ) and it made me think of a conversation I recently had with my husband. Now, my husband is not a writer, or even a reader. He will read the newspaper and that’s about it. Very rarely will he pick up a book and read it. He just doesn’t see the joy or purpose. He’s very encouraging to anyone who wants to write, the kids or myself included, and he doesn’t discourage reading either. When the kids whine and complain about being bored, he tells them ‘clean your room or read a book, Mom (stepmom) has plenty of them!’ So it really irritated me when he said something to me the one day. He asked what I was doing, I responded, ‘I’m going to my desk to write.’ He gave me this look and said ‘Didn’t you do that last night?’ This irritated me. I told him he works for days in a row and this is kind of the same thing. You can’t always set yourself a strict schedule of ‘well I’ll only work when the spouse is at work,’ sometimes it just doesn’t work.
There really is only one point that I have, I have my ‘Jack’ moments along with my everyday ‘Rachel’ moments (ie: putting iced tea in my coffee thinking it was creamer, forgetting where I put my cell phone only to have it in my pocket, forgetting that the baby gate is mid-thigh-high and falling on my face).
I haven’t made a post regarding True Connection for a few days. I apologize for that. While I was editing, I came across a boo-boo, fixed it, noticed it again and fixed it again. After correcting this simple error, I decided to go back to the previous chapter. It was there. What started as a simple error suddenly escalated to a major error that I couldn’t believe I made. It was throughout the whole novel, minus the first 4 chapters. Now I know I’m not perfect, but it was something I felt was obvious. It’s corrected now, and I have moved on in editing. So that part is progressing. I have one beta reader lined up, but I would like another, so if you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know.
On that note, I will leave you with a teaser. I hope you enjoy it!
“Come on, please, let’s go talk on the boat. You need to know the truth, before I can let you leave, or take you home. Please, I think this is a good thing, a really good thing, and I hope you see it that way too.” He looks at me so sweetly.
“Fine, but you do realize I can swim. So it’s not like you can trap me out on the water.” Maybe I’m just blinded by his gorgeousness or I really am crazy. I’ll bet on crazy since I just agreed to this.
“I know.”
That saying of ‘curiosity killed the cat’ is thrumming through my brain as we climb onto the boat.
I’d also like to give you a song that I played repeated for a good portion of this book while I was writing.

True Connection

Look at that beautiful work of art from from the wonderfully talented Regina Wamba at www.maeidesign.com
So, I have a teaser, it’s just another short one. I’ll get a longer one put together in a few weeks.
It’s more than a fight for my life. It’s a fight for my soul and my soul mate.
Jazzy is a not so average coffee-loving teen, coping with the deaths of her father and sister, dealing with her famous uncle’s fans, an overprotective big brother, and a depressed mother, all while trying to make friends at her new school-her old school’s rival. She meets a gorgeous green-eyed hottie who turns out to be more than human, and more than just some high school crush. On her first day at the new school she unknowingly enraged a very dangerous breed of demon who wants her soul or life as payment. With the help of some fantastical friends and protectors, she remains safe. Until what remains of her family is put in danger. Can Jazzy save her family, her life, her soul and soul mate, or will all be lost?
*Warning* Mature Content. This contains some profanity, mild sexual situations, innuendoes, and violence. Recommended for ages 17 and up, depending on maturity level.
“What class do you have next?” he asks me. Dang, I have to use my puddle brain.
“Uhh…”Shoot! Why didn’t I take the time to memorize this thing?
“She’s got study hall with Mrs. Kling.” Skeeter answers for me. How exactly does she know that? I look at her. “Sweetie, your schedule is in your hand, and close your mouth, you don’t wanna drool.” She whispers before walking over to the group of kids standing by the door. That leaves me alone with Mr. Brain-Freeze-Inducer, himself.
I hope everyone enjoys this!

Character Intro

So I have a special message to share. It’s from the main character in True Connection, Jazzy. Here’s what she has to say.
‘Hey guys! I’m under strict orders to keep this short, sweet and to the point. I’m not allowed to give you too many details *Ahem…Rachel…* So I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I’m absolutely in love with music! Music inspires me to draw or paint. That is where my true passion is. At the moment I’m drawing some children playing in the park. Anyway, I love to read, I have a library of books in my room. I have a touch of OCD. Everything has it’s own place and I’m constantly fixing the kitchen. My uncle is terrible at putting dishes away and has been banned from doing it ever again. I enjoy school, more than I probably should. I have bad days like everyone else but for the most part I really love being at school and having to challenge myself to complete assignments. I can handle school better than dealing with the challenges outside of school. That would be one of the topics I have to not mention so no more on that I promise! I absolutely love being near water. The beach is one of my favorite places of all times. The smells, the sounds, to feeling, it’s just amazing. Well, I need to go, my brother is ready to teach me how to parallel park! I hope we use cones, or boxes this time. I’m sure my uncle would appreciatte not having to fix another dent in his bumper. Oops! I’ll catch up with you guys later! Maybe then I’ll be allowed to give you a peek into my world!’
I hope you enjoyed the little introduction Jazzy gave. There will be more character introductions, as soon as they stop fighting over who goes next. ;)
News on the cover reveal? It will probably be happening at the beginning of November. I’m so excited and cannot wait to share it with you! It might happen sooner! Keep your eyes peeled :)
