Provoke the Darkness by Christopher Chapman

NA Paranormal (18+ ONLY)

It's his graduating year and everything has gone to shit, pardon my language, but if you knew what he's about to go through this year, you'd understand. It's never just one thing, but a collection of things that bring a person to their breaking point and he may have just hit his.
His name is Ethan Cameron, and with an unexpected phone call from his mother, his life has changed drastically. More than I ever thought possible. He wanted a simple life. One that would have him working nine to five job that he enjoyed, with a wife and two and a half children. He must have taken a wrong turn somewhere, because it doesn't look like that is the future that the 'higher ups' have for him now.
Maybe I'm the one who turned his life around, maybe it was the feelings that I have towards him that changed his fate. Could it be my fault that his life is ending?
***
I've always admired comic book characters, the ones that would go off and save the world. The only problem is I think it will be me that they'll have to save the world from.
My grandmother tells me that I have is a gift, and that it should be embraced. She's also crazy, like legit hears voices in her head crazy. To me, this gift feels more like a curse. A burden. It's slowly driving me crazy.
I never thought life would be this complicated. I'm not quite sure where my loyalties lie anymore.

Is it about doing the right thing, or staying alive?

Lovely Vicious by Sara Wolf - Blog Tour Review Post!

Seventeen-year-old Isis Blake hasn’t fallen in love in three years, nine weeks, and five days, and after what happened last time, she intends to keep it that way. Since then she’s lost eighty-five pounds, gotten four streaks of purple in her hair, and moved to the Buttcrack-of-Nowhere Ohio to help her mom escape a bad relationship.

All the girls in her new school want one thing – Jack Hunter, the Ice Prince of East Summit High. Hot as an Armani ad, smart enough to get into Yale, and colder than the Arctic, Jack Hunter’s never gone out with anyone. Sure, people have seen him downtown with beautiful women, but he’s never given high school girls the time of day. Until Isis punches him in the face.

Jack’s met his match. Suddenly everything is a game.

The goal: Make the other beg for mercy.

The game board: East Summit High.

The reward: Something neither of them expected.

*This book contains language, some of which may be unsuitable for younger readers.*

*This is the first book in the LOVELY VICIOUS series.*

“I paid the fee, if that’s what you’re here about,” Madison starts. Jack looks to her, smile flashing on for a moment.

“Let me talk to her. Give me one second.”

“Okay,” Madison giggles. He grabs my elbow and pulls me in the other direction.

“Is that how you kissed me?” I ask, nearly tripping as he pulls me along. “Golly gee, it looks kind of mildly fucking embarrassing! No wonder up my appointments - ”

“Whoa, I think you overestimate me, shitlord. Last time I checked all I did was be in the wrong place at the right time. I saw you and had to - ”

“Stalk me.”

“ - delicately approach you. In a sideways manner. From behind. Without being seen at all. For ten minutes.”

“Why are you even out? I thought you were sick.”

“I was. See, it’s this thing called an immune system -”

He holds up his hand and rubs his eyes. “Okay, stop. Shut all systems down and just. Stop. Talking.”

“Why?”

“It’s annoying.”

“That’s never stopped me before!”

“Why did you follow me?”

“I was…curious?”

He looks down at the jar of frosting I clutch in my hands. “Are you eating that out of the can?”

“Are you the king of stupid questions?” I fire back. “Of course I am! Frosting is the ambrosia of the gods. God, if you’re into that religious thing. Are you religious? Somehow I get the feeling the only church you’d join is the church of self-worship. Your body is your temple. Work it, boy.”

“What are you saying?” He snarls.

“You’re blabbering!”

“At least I’m not whoring!”

"I'm working right now, okay? I’m getting paid. So you need to just piss off and go to whatever immature party you were going to in the first place.”

“How’d you know I’m going to a party?”

“The receipt for red plastic cups sticking out of your jacket. Your eyeliner. Girls don’t make eyeliner wings that big unless they plan on drinking.”

“Touché. You’re smarter than I gave you credit for.”

“And you’re far more annoying than I first suspected. If I’d known you’d stalk me like all the others, I never would’ve kissed you, even as payback.”

“Seriously, you kiss everyone like that though! It was nothing special.”

“Exactly. It was nothing special. So back off and leave me alone.”

My Review-

This is a book that will confuse you, make you scream, cry, and beg for mercy.
I totally love Isis, she's hilarious and caring. Jack is my favorite though, his iciness and passion is something special. I found the war between the two of them completely hilarious.
But towards the end, though skewed and a bit odd, it was incredibly sweet. Their interactions were so gentle and camouflaged that outsiders might not get the flirtations at first glance. The twists and turns in the journey leaves you scratching your head and on flipping pages while hold your breath.
Warning, there is a cliffhanger. I have a love hate relationship with those things, and this one is no different. I NEED the next book like last week.
For anyone who enjoys Upper YA, I would recommend this book to you. It is a YA setting, but don't let that fool you. I hope you all give this book and author a chance. The comic relief is great, you'll certainly laugh out loud.

Book Signing & Updates!

This past Saturday was my first book signing. Ever.
I was a nervous wreck leading up to the event. I would be meeting an editor that I've never met before, PLUS, meeting wonderful locals who've possibly heard of me, possibly not.
Well, the editor never showed, so it was just me signing my books. I brought a friend, titled her as my assistant and set up shop. It wasn't anything huge, I did not break the bank with deposits or anything. It was however still special!
I met a local author who was dropping off a poster for his signing. He was very nice and informative, I even gave him my cover designer's info. Because, let's face it, Regina Wamba at Mae I Design is flippin' awesome.
Anyway, it was a very relaxed environment. The store is fabulous, love it there.
I did make one mistake.
Lie.
Two.
First, I brought kisses, because, chocolate and books go together. They do. I'm not the only one who thinks this either. But...they were there. Right. In. Front. Of. Me.
And wouldn't you know it, I ate a handful. My teeth and head were screaming at by the time I was packing up to leave. LOL.
Second mistake, I misspelled my own name on the first book I signed. MY OWN NAME. IT'S ON THE BOOK. MORE THAN ONCE. AND it was right above where I was signing. And I misspelled it.
Luckily for me, it was my sister's friend and she forgave me. I still feel terrible for that.
Aside from that, it was a blast and I'll be doing it again for sure!

Now, onto some updates. I know I haven't updated much or even posted many teasers. For that, I apologize, Things have been a bit crazy lately. Trying to get ready for the signing, kid's birthday, traveling, and CHRISTMAS. Ugh. I'm so not ready. Don't remind me of the date, I know. lol
Book 2, Soul Promise. It's...being a tricky booger. But things are starting to come together and it's progressing, thankfully. I've rewritten the back cover blurb for the tenth time, but this version will likely be the version you see in a few months.
Early 2014 you'll be seeing 2 things. Cover reveal for Soul Promise AND cover REREVEAL for A Message of Flowers, plus PAPERBACK VERSION WILL BE LIVE!

I know I should schedule myself out for the year, but I can't bring myself to do that. If I had done that for this year, you guys wouldn't have A Message of Flowers. I don't know if I would've had anything ready before the end of the year. That story came to me and completely took over everything.
But officially, the order of what's to come is:
Soul Promise (The Soul Mate Series) #2
Pucked

I don't have a date for either release. But you guys will know as soon as I know :)

Hope everyone is staying warm (if it's cold) and staying cool (if it's warm). Be safe with your travels!

Can this Christmas hold their salvation?

Excerpt
He has that way about him, making you believe in something when you’ve lost all hope. He lives up to his name day after day in every single way possible. I wish I could say that everything since he proposed has been easy. That all we did was love each other as much as possible and as many times as possible, but that’s not the case at all. As soon as we left the cemetery we drove to his mom’s place to give her the good news and it hasn’t stopped since then. We had to pick a date, invitations, a location, flowers, and a dress. To say I was overwhelmed is putting it lightly, I was on the verge of breaking down, and each day brought me closer to the cliff until one day… I jumped head first back into the very thing I said I would never go back to.
I went to see Elise.

Meet Danielle!

Author Bio
Danielle Sibarium grew up as an only child of divorced parents in Brooklyn, New York. Her imagination was developed at an early age. Surrounded by stuffed animals and imaginary friends, she transported herself into a fantasy world full of magic and wonder. Books were the gateway between her play world and reality. On any given summer afternoon she became Snow White sweeping and cooking for the dwarfs, or Cinderella waiting for the prince.
Danielle always loved dialogue and in elementary school began writing plays and short stories. This is when she began to understand she could not only bring her fantastical world to life for herself, but she could enchant others as well. And so she wrote. She wrote and wrote and wrote.
Sadly the first piece she ever sent out for publication of any sort was a letter to the editor of The Home News Tribune. It was a piece of thanking the first responders for their bravery and selflessness on Sept. 11th. It was chosen as letter of the week. In 2007 Danielle collaborated with Charlotte Doreen Small to write songs for her CD More. Danielle wrote the lyrics for Take My Hand, and Goodbye, while Charlotte contributed the melody. In October 2011 Danielle’s debut novel For Always was released. She has since released The Heart Waves Trilogy, Heart Waves, Breaking Waves, and Waves of Love.  Danielle graduated from Farleigh Dickinson University with honors, and currently lives in New Jersey with her husband and three children.

Cover Reveal - Amy Bartol - Under Different Stars

SYNOPSIS:

All she wants is a home, but can she find one...UNDER DIFFERENT STARS

Kricket Hollowell is normally not one to wish upon stars; she believes they’re rarely in her favor. Well versed at dodging caseworkers from Chicago’s foster care system, the past few years on her own have made Kricket an expert at the art of survival and blending in. With her 18th birthday fast approaching, she dreams of the day when she can stop running and find what her heart needs most: a home.

Trey Allairis hates Earth and doubts that anyone from his world can thrive here. What he’s learning of Kricket and her existence away from her true home only confirms his theory. But, when he and Kricket lie together under the stars of Ethar, counting them all may be easier than letting her go.

Kyon Ensin’s secrets number the stars; he knows more about Kricket's gifts than anyone and plans to possess her because of them. He also knows she’s more valuable than any fire in the night sky. He’ll move the heavens and align them all in order to make her his own.

When everything in their world can be broken, will Kricket rely upon love to save her under different stars?

TEASER:

I glance at Trey; he looks like an advertisement for Calvin Klein. Wearing only dark, athletic boxers, he’s something out of a catalog or a warrior movie. Blushing deeply, I want to crawl under the rock I’m on. “Wade into the water together. We should tie you two so that you’re face-to-face with both your heads above the water,” Jax says. Trey nods, extending his hand for me to take.
Avoiding looking at him, I stand up, walking to the water’s edge on my own. Dipping my toes in the water, I pull them back sharply. “It’s freezing!” I glower at them, hearing my voice echo off the walls again.
“It is,” Trey agrees, scooping me up in his arms and wading out quickly into the water before I can object further. When he is chest deep, he says softly in my ear, “Breathe.”
Clinging to him tightly with my arms around his neck, I inhale deeply before muttering, “Shh...you’re interrupting my revenge plotting.”
“If you survive this, I’ll insist that you learn to swim,” he says, sounding annoyed as Jax wades to us with a line, circling us.
“If I survive this, I’m killing you,” I reply dryly, feeling the rope tense, drawing me tighter against Trey’s warm body.
A small smile touches his lips at my comment. “How do you propose to do that?” He gazes into my eyes as Jax knots us together.
“I’ll let you spend some sleepless nights worrying about that,” I reply, my teeth beginning to chatter as the cold water is chilling me to the bone.

AUTHOR BIO:

I live in Michigan with my husband and our two sons. My family is very supportive of my writing. When I’m writing, they often bring me the take-out menu so that I can call and order them dinner. They listen patiently when I talk about my characters like they’re  real. They rarely roll their eyes when I tell them I’ll only be a second while I finish writing a chapter…and then they take off their coats. They ask me how the story is going when I surface after living for hours in a world of my own making. They have learned to accept my “writing uniform” consisting of a slightly unflattering pink fleece jacket, t-shirt, and black yoga pants. And they smile at my nerdy bookishness whenever I try to explain urban fantasy to them. In short, they get me, so they are perfect and I am blessed.

Excerpt:
“Who’s that for?” A smooth male voice pulls me from my work.
I place the last white flower into the vase, and spin it, checking appearance at all angles. “This is actually for no one in particular, Sid.” I shrug to my best friend and employee.
“Come on, G,” he coaxes, using my nickname for effect.
I sigh. “I’m just puttin’ it together. They’re my flowers, so who cares why I arrange them?”
“Yes, I’m well aware who my boss is,” he deadpans. “I’ve seen you at work, and I’ve seen you work. There’s a difference.”
I glance up to him. His eyebrow is arched, daring me to deny what he’s said. His blue eyes are drilling into mine, knowing that I’m hiding something. If I hadn’t known him since grade school, I’d ignore him and tell him to mind his own business. But this is Sid, one of my best friends, who will eventually pull out my mystery flower messenger anyway. Quickly, I remind myself why I’ve hired him to begin with. I can trust him, and he’s known me for so long he knows how to help me and not be a distraction.
I blow out a slow breath of resignation as I side step him, placing the vase on the wide windowsill. “When I left my house this morning, there were four white carnations on my porch. There was no note either, so I just brought them here. And I can’t sell them - they’re not mine.”
His usually smiling mouth opens and closes like a fish sucking for air. “So you just bring stoop flowers in here?” While his eyes usually seem hooded, giving him that lazy surfer look, now his eyelids widen as his eyebrows disappear under the baseball cap that’s hiding his shaggy blonde hair, making his pastel blue eyes pop wide. The more he sputters, the more his nostrils flare. “Go wash up! There could’ve been poison on them!”
I burst out laughing. “Sid, calm your conspiracies. Who would poison carnations?” Ever since middle school, he’s always had crazy conspiracies. The teachers had a hidden agenda with pop quizzes and homework. Parents having evil plans by giving us chores, and then there was the driver’s license hoax. Thankfully we’re interrupted by the bell chimes above the door.
I work to calm my rolling hysterics, taking a deep breath, and trying to think about anything other than poisoned carnations or Sid as I walk to the front of my store. “Welcome to G-Quets. I’m Georgina, can I help you?” I ask to the back of someone’s head.
The man spins around so fast he’s a blur and wraps his arms around me, pulling me into a huge bear hug. “G-G! Is this your store?”

That voice, the familiar husky scratch.

She’s also a coffeenista with an insomnia problem. When Rachel isn’t playing with the people inside her head, making her family believe she belongs in the loony bin, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, species confused cat (he believes he’s part dog, love him), and finding new books and music.
Regarding writing, her first love is Young Adult Paranormal, but she’s venturing outside of her comfort zone and opening up to writing more genres. Be on the look out!
Rachel looks forward to hearing from and interacting with her fans and readers. So feel free to contact her:

My parting words - Be sure to check out the back of A Message of Flowers for a few surprises, including the title of both of my next releases! ;)
