Blog Stop: The Love Game by Emma Hart

First… You need to look at this…

Here’s a bit about the book :)

His challenge? Make her fall in love with him.

Her challenge? Play the player.

Until life changes the rules of the game.

Maddie Stevens hated Braden Carter on sight. Arrogant, egotistical, and the playboy of the University of California, Berkeley,he's everything her brother Pearce has taught her to despise. So why, when the girls challenge her to play the player, doesn't she say no? She doesn't know either.

Braden wanted fiery little Maddie the second he laid eyes on her - and he'd do anything to have her, hence why he's agreed to make her fall in love with him. After all, it's the only way he'll get what he wants. Sex.

But,as Braden discovers, there's more to the girl from Brooklyn than he ever imagined - and he can't help but care about the broken girl behind those pretty green eyes.

Maddie finds Braden isn't just a walking erection - he actually has feelings. He can be sweet, funny and his good looks don't exactly hurt. That means trouble - but when her brother Pearce turns up in Berkeley begging for her help, she realises Braden and Pearce aren't so alike anymore.

And maybe, just maybe, they're exactly what each other needs.

What did I think?

I love it. For several reasons.

The challenge – believable.

I’m in my twenties and a few friends I have are “players” I’ve seen it happen. One love interest gets under their skin and they either straighten up or they get worse – trying to forget THAT ONE.

The characters – as I was reading, I could picture every single one of them, hear their voices, see the motions flit across their faces, feel the anger, the humor and see the Starbucks just a hop-skip-and-a-jump away from campus.

Emma Hart has brought this storyto life with her bad ass talent. Again.

This story has COFFEE! I was so excited by that, you have no idea. I’m weird. *pushes wanting a vanilla caramelfrap to the back burner*

As with everything else, we all have our favorite people, their favorite lines, their favorite scene, etc.

For me?

Braden. Oh…. Braden. You won abit of my heart dude. He's the finest kind of caveman there is ;)
There's definitely more to him than meets the eye, just the same for Maddie.

But Emma knows that Braden is my #CavemanBraden

As much as I love the Caveman, and the coffee… I have to say Megan was my favorite.

She’s sweet, kick ass, and she is the ultimate best friend. She knew her best friend/brother Braden needed something, or rather, SOMEONE to change him.

Now, I’m a firm believer in people only change if THEY want to. It’s that whole self-help thing, you don’t get fixed by someone - you fix yourself. And even then, you’re not fixed. Anyway,I’m off topic.

Megan had a “sister’s intuition” moment that was spot on. She knew that if he got played, he’d learn that what the was doing was wrong.

Before I get all spoilery, I’m going to stop myself.

Keep Calm And….

Love #CavemanBraden

Need I say more?

Now I have something special just for you!

My interview with the one and only Megan :)

Hi Megan :) so nice to meet you!

Hi, Rachel! Thanks for having me.

How long have you known Braden?

I’ve known him for as long as I can remember. Our moms met in college, so he’s kinda always been there.

What was it like growing up with him?

He was always getting me into trouble! No, really, he was. I swear, I was a good girl. *smiles* although, when Tom Harvey tried kissing me in fourth grade, I punched him in the nose and Braden took the wrap for it. So I guess I got him into trouble.*grins*

Tell us a funny story of you and Braden as kids. Please?

I have so many stories, but I’m unsure if any of them are really that funny.Apart from when I wanted a poodle when I was seven, and he shaved his mom’s cat to look like one. It was funny until our parents found out, anyway.

How did you meet Maddie?

I met her in English class! I was late on our first day, and the seat next to hers was the only empty seat.

After getting to know her, did you want to play matchmaker?

Absolutely. I love getting people together.Just call me Cupid.

When the challenge presented itself, were you 100% on board with it or were you more torn?

Absolutely! After a few weeks I knew they were what each other needed, and it gave me the opportunity to get them together.

How did you think it would turn out at the beginning?

Maddie was so against it being anything more than a challenge that I thought she’d actually carry it out. I’m kinda glad Pearce came to Berkeley, though, because I think that’s when she realized Braden isn’t like Pearce at all.

Love is very important to you, and so is Braden. Are you worried Braden will react like a barbarian and try chasing him off?

*sighs*I know Braden will do everything in his power to see me single until I die. One day, though, he’ll have to give it up.

Fun and easy one, don't worry. ;)
You and Maddie visit Starbucks a lot, what's your absolute favorite? Or do you mix it up sometimes?

I mix it up! I like so many I can’t ever pick just one favorite.

Do you have eyes for anyone in particular?

*blushes* I’m not saying a word. You’ll have to wait and find out.

Last question, it's of the fun variety as well. If you could choose to be any supernatural being or creature, what would it be and why?

I’d be a mermaid. I love The Little Mermaid.

And here is the badass that brought these amazing characters to life …

True Connection Tease

I think I may just post teases on Wednesday, blogger seems to cooperate better.

I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel on these revisions! It’s a wonderful feeling!

I should be done soon and editing will pick up again. I’ll pick a release date at halfway mark with edits. Shouldn’t take terribly long, just longer than I originally planned.

Okay…. I won’t ramble on anymore. Here’s what you’ve come here for! :)

*Note, this snippet is subject to change or removal. Unedited*

True Connection (Book one in The Soul Mate Series)

The class phone rings, shattering my thoughts.

“Jasmine?” Mr. Hare calls as he hangs up the phone. “You’re needed in the office.”

I stiffly nod and try to keep my fear of the empty hallways at bay. He smiles and hands me a pass as I walk to the front of the room.

Whoever built this school must’ve been a demon’s best friend. I’m currently on the second floor of the school in the South hall. The office is on the first floor in the North hall. I groan, and briskly walk to the stairwell.

I make it to the office just fine and grab my English book from the secretary. Choosing the closest set of stairs, I run up the flight of steps and push open the door to the second floor. Footsteps echo behind me, thundering down the hall towards me, after passing just two doors. My breathing kicks up as I push myself into a faster jog and try unsuccessfully to swallow my panicked fear.

The footsteps get faster and sound closer, threatening to catch me. Hairs on my arm begin the raise as my panic rises.

I turn the corner and take off in a sprint to get to the other end of the hall to my class.

The footsteps are running after me and I can feel eyes on my back. I glance over my shoulder and nearly scream when I see an empty hallway. My body chills, goosepimples spread over me like wildfire, the temperature around me drops significantly. It’s like I’m sitting in an ice bath. Seeing my classroom, I pant as I slow my run and slide into a locker just before the door to my class, feeling my skin crawl.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s teaser and I hope to see you back next week!

Have a fabulous week!
Emma Hart's The Love Game blog stop will be here on Easter Sunday! :) See you then!

Emma Hart Cover Reveal

Okay, so I'm really excited about this!

Here is the latest awesomesaucyness from the Badass herself!

Emma plans to release on April 15th.

Now, here's what's going on with our beloved characters from Never Forget...

Holding on Synopsis

Living in London after spending almost twenty years in a town with a population of three hundred would be hard on anyone – and Alec Johnson is no exception to the rule.
When Alec followed Lexy to London, he knew his life would change drastically. He just didn’t know how much. With Lexy’s friends and admirer to contend with, he has to show there’s more to the country surfer boy than is ability to ride the waves. With his own shameless admirers, he has to keep Lexy’s trust – and despite her love for him, that’s no easy task.

Beneath her tough girl exterior, all Jennifer Mason has ever wanted to do is paint. London’s School of Art can give her that, and she couldn’t be happier she’s finally breaking free from Lilac Bay. What she’s not happy about is having to leave Carl behind – or his reluctance to visit her while she’s studying.
Their relationship is put to the test as living on her own for the first time and university take their toll on Jen. After all, three hundred miles is a long way to be away from your boyfriend when you’re eighteen years old.
And it’s even harder when you can’t keep your eyes off your best friend’s older brother.

And I have an excert... EEEEE!!!!

I stand, walking towards Bing. “Tell me this is some kind of ass wiping joke?”
“I wish,” he replies, looking down at me. “Believe me, spending my evening with you wasn’t in my plan.”
“So change it,” I hiss. “There is no way I’m spending all of Saturday night smiling and hanging onto your arrogant arm, Samuel!” Although, it is a very pretty arm.
He sighs. “Look, Jennifer, I don’t exactly want you on my arm, but it’s too late to change it. Mum has already ordered matching outfits.”
“Are you fucking kidding?” I deadpan. “Not only do I have to go with you, everyone will know I’m with you because, what? Your tie will match my dress?”
“Oh, and there’s the brains she used to get into university,” he responds snarkily. “Yes, Jen. My tie is the same material and colour as your dress. Believe me, I’m not damn happy.”
I heave in a breath. “This is gonna be as about as successful as Hades in the North Pole.” I throw my arms up, and turn back to Lexy’s bed. I throw myself face down on it.
“I wouldn’t lie like that,” Bing says. “You have no idea what’s happened on that bed.”
I get back up and growl. I push past him, moving to stomp down the stairs.
“Hey, I was just saying!” he calls, following me.
“Go away, Samuel. I want to see you as much as I want a shard of glass in my ass.”

Haha. Gotta love Jen!

It's finally time for a Tuesday Teaser!

Okay, so I had a wee bit of trouble picking out a teaser.

But! My horrible decision making skills finally so fit to decide!

I’ll shut up and tease!

*Note, this may change before publication

He takes a step towards me and I take one back. But I forget about the log and end up landing on my ass with my legs draped over the log.

I burst out laughing and Seth laughs, too.

He reaches out his hand to help me up. With him laughing this hard it’s easy to knock him off balance and pull him down to me. So I do.

It feels nice having him like this, the pressure of his body on mine. I have one hand on his chest, the other grips his bicep.

Suddenly we aren’t laughing anymore. We’re just staring into each other’s eyes. He starts to lean down towards me and I bite my lip again. He groans and closes his eyes as he gets closer to my mouth.

I hope you enjoyed the tease :)

In other news, my writing nook is complete! I took it for a test drive last night while I revised!

So comfy. I’m happy! :)

Speaking of revisions…. They’re coming along nicely, I’m still behind, but I’m catching up.

Being sick really took a lot out of me. Ugh. So happy to be on the mend!

Another happy note?

I have started purchasing swag items for giveaways!

Of course my lovely, talented CP Emma Hart has claimed a few things for herself, but that’s okay, it’s all easily replaced and you all won’t miss out!

One last thing!

Next month, you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for a certain release…

*zips lips*

That’s all I’m allowed to say right now!

Entrelacen by Dani Morales

So my wonderfully wacky #bondsister and amazing friend wrote this pretty awesome story and has decided to self publish! I’m one of the lucky ones to help her introduce it!

I am SO excited to share this with you all!!!

Look at that cover! It’s BEAUTIFUL! Love it!

Here’s the synopsis!

One girl faces tethered responsibilities in the form of three boys.

One boy dealt a hard hand but rises above in search of his destiny.

Two separate lives desperate for a break, collide.

Falling in love was never the plan but it happened anyway.

Time’s running out and both their fears comes to light.

The key to defeating darkness lies within their family lineage.

Were they thrown together by chance or fate?

Will love conquer all or will a sacrifice be made?

I have a very special treat! Here’s an exert! ENJOY!

I immediately feel as if this is the bookstore I’ve been searching for. I push the door open at the same time someone on the inside is pulling it open. It causes me to stumble, ungracefully I might add, into the chest of a remarkably fit guy. Immediately I feel my face flush scarlet and try to step back. His strong hands are flexing on my waist to steady me. I realize that I'm shaking.

When my wits start to focus, I inhale and am assaulted by the most sensual masculine scent I have ever smelt. It is like the smell of rain mixed with laundry soap and desire. Okay. Maybe I am just smelling my own desire. I’ve never been so insanely attracted to someone without even seeing his face. That’s when I notice my hands have embedded themselves into his royal blue shirt. I let go and take a step back. His hands drop to his sides and ball into fists. He’s wearing some faded blue jeans that are just a little baggy and look perfect on him. His shirt is form fitting, and if I hadn't already felt up his chest and stomach, I would have noticed his abs through his shirt. My gaze finally lands on his face, and all thoughts immediately vacate the area.

He has beautiful hazel eyes that could rival my own. They hold humor in their depths. His lips are absolutely perfect. I just want to kiss them to see if they were as soft as they look and run my fingers through his untamed black hair. His face looks like it has been sculpted from marble, very tan marble. His smile break whatever spell I was under, and I feel completely embarrassed. I was caught checking him out. I don’t do that. What the hell is wrong with me? Speak April. You look so stupid right now.

“I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to, umm, fall into you and, uh, mess up your shirt.”

The smile gets bigger, and his eyes shine like there’s light behind them. Electricity shoots through my body. Every molecule inside me is aware of his proximity and wants to touch and caress him.

“No, I’m sorry. I was so busy talking to Gran that I got distracted, and I wasn’t paying attention to see if someone was outside.”

His voice is a deep, seductive sound that oozes charm and confidence. This is retarded. I’m having some intense feelings for this guy that I don’t know and probably don’t have a chance in hell with.

“No harm done. Thanks for, umm, catching me?”

Why did I just phrase that as a question? I need to get away from this guy; he’s making thinking extremely difficult. I try to step around him into the store and stop dead in my tracks. This store is perfection. I guess pausing makes him think I'm waiting for him to say something else.

“No problem at all.”

Now, meet the lovely author! <3

The Feria by Julia Bade

Opening in 1941, THE FERIA is a stunning tale of two countries, where we find Soledad, a smart, educated young Mexican-American with big plans. She and her family, however, begin facing the economic pressures inflicted by a nation readying for war. To ensure her family's survival and continued success, her father betrays her in an act meant to save her family’s agricultural fortune.

Brutally torn from her true love, Xavier, Soledad’s carefully concealed secrets begin to collapse. The challenge of putting everything back together and resisting the desire and love she has for Xavier presents itself in a daring love story dancing on both sides of the border, intricately written around Mexican and American cultures and the great uncertainty that comes with love.

My Review: Wow. That’s the only word ringing in my head after finishing The Feria. I love the connection, the love, the trust that Soledad and Xavier had. They had that “once in a lifetime” love, the kind of love every girl dreams of. Their other half.

I actually read this in several sittings. Because I knew they would be ripped apart, it’s said in the description. I didn’t want to see that. I loved them together, and them apart would have been wrong. But I couldn’t stand not knowing. So I took the plunge and finished the book. And those two apart was something wrong indeed.

I enjoyed every minute. I love that the story was set in a different era, and a different culture. It’s one of my favorite things about this story.

Another thing I loved was the continued growth between Soledad and Xavier. They didn’t let the past stop their future. It’s never too late to be with the one you love, the one who makes you happy, your “other half.”

Love is the answer.

“I hope that I have inspired anyone out there to believe that it’s never, ever, too late to pursue your dreams. And no matter what point in time you achieve them, it’s worth it.” – Soledad, The Feria.

Never Forget Blog Stop!!

By Emma Hart

If you’ve read any of my other blog posts, you probably already know who Emma Hart is to me. If not, I’ll say it again. She’s my Critique Partner. She’s much more than that though. We have blurred the lines of being crit partners and friends. She’s so much fun to talk to and to work with.

We have an interesting system of doing things. One thing we do when one of us gets an idea for a new book or one we’re currently writing is, we talk it out. It’s usually something like this…

Psst…I have a new idea!

Well, it’ll be like this  _______ :)

Ooooo….more please?

When Emma started writing Never Forget, I cannot tell you how many times I said “MORE PLEASE.”

We actually formed our partnership in the early stages of Never Forget.

Never Forget is special to me for several reasons, not just because it’s AMAZING, but because we basically teased each other to death with Never Forget and one of my Work In Progresses.

There are so many things I could say about Never Forget, but I’m only going to talk about one aspect.

And I have something special a little later on…

Never Forget is about finding love and holding on to it. But it’s so much more than that. It’s learning to trust, having fun, letting go, loving your family, and so much more.

The main character, Lexy, has an older brother.

Brothers and sisters are special. And I love mine, so I jumped all over this ;)

I love the relationship Lexy and Bing have. They’re not super close or best friends, nothing like the relationship I’m used to. They have the relationship I’ve always thought of brothers and sisters having. They don’t really “get on” with each other all the time and tease each other… But they love each other and HAVE EACH OTHERS BACK.

Bing is a protective brother and, I love that!

I, like Lexy, do not like how Bing lets his boxers hang out, that drives me nuts and makes me want to buy the guy some suspenders or something.

But that aside, he’s a pretty awesome guy. Funny, slightly annoying (like brothers can be) and he watches out for his sister. (No, I did not forget his man-whoring, I'm just choosing not to mention it.)

The brother/sister bond is different for everyone who experiences it, but it's a bond that is important for those who have it.

So, the something special I mentioned… I got to talk with BING!!! AHH!!!

So excited :)

Here we go…
So, Bing, for those who don’t know, what is your given name?
Samuel Edwards. Not exactly the coolest.
Can you tell me the whole story behind “Bing”?
*laughs into hand* I, er… I guess you could say I’m pretty popular with the opposite sex. In honour of my ‘conquests’, my mates decided I should have a nickname. Bing kinda stuck.
I mean, we could have gone with ‘Bang’ or ‘Hammer’ but they just didn’t sound right.
*giggles* Hammer! *coughs* Moving on…
You’re admittedly a ladies man… Do you have a ‘type’?
According to my sister, my ‘type’ is anyone that has a half decent pair of boobs and a hole between their legs. She’s not far wrong – but I am a little pickier than that. I guess you could say my actual ‘type’ is blonde…
Onto a more serious question.
Serious? Really? That was fun ;)
Okay, okay. I’m being told to behave.
What was your first thought about Alec working for Grammy?
I knew what Grammy was up to. Look up ‘schemer’ in the dictionary and her name will be the definition. Of course, she did actually need the help – but she didn’t need to hire Lilac Bay’s version of me now, did she?
And how did you keep your cool watching your baby sister practically drool over Lilac Bay’s version of yourself?
I didn’t. I just didn’t freak around Lex. I wanted to break Alec’s damn legs the first time I saw them getting cosy. I encouraged her, I know, but she’s still my baby sis. And I’d still break his damn legs now if he hurt her. He’s been warned.
You’re obviously the overprotective brother, love it by the way…
Chilled but overprotective. That’s more accurate.
What can you tell me about your thoughts/actions at the beach party…the fight?
Let’s not talk about that night. We’ll just say it’s lucky that Carl was there to pull me off that prick.
Soo… *smiles* I saw that Grammy played a bit of a prank on you, involving some of “your” undergarments… Was that the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to you?
Yes. The sad thing is the pink ones are actually mine. Yes, I still have them.
Love the pink boxers *giggles*
Can you tell us a story of you and Lexy as kids? What sort of trouble did you get into?
Not so much Lexy. She was always good. But I did watch The Flintstones movie once when I was like six, and a stripper jumped from the cake, right? Well it was Mum’s birthday and I thought I’d surprise her and jump from the cake. Yeah. That didn’t go down so well.
*pauses to catch breath and stop laughing*
Fun question!
You’re stranded in the mountains, freezing cold temps, with only the clothes on your body right now. What are you wearing?
Because of the time difference I’m actually in bed right now, so this is kinda awkward. I’m naked.
*laughs* I’m sure someone will like that answer…
What would your idea of a perfect (not X-Rated) date or day with a lady be?
Shit. Um… Can I get back to you on that?
I’ll hold you to it, yes.
Fine, last question and it’s totally unrelated.
If you were a superhero, what would your super power be and would you wear a cape?
Of course I’d wear a cape… And I’d have invisibility for spying on girls when they got changed.
Thank you so much Bing! *blows kisses*
A city girl.
A small town boy.
A summer they'll never forget.

Spending the summer at her Grammy's in Lilac Bay, Devon, is city girl Alexis 'Lexy' Edwards' idea of hell. That is, until she reconnects with her childhood friend, Jen, and meets Alec Johnson.
Alec is the kind of guy Lexy knows she needs to stay away from. He's the village flirt, ridiculously hot and very dangerous to her self control. But there's a problem – she can't seem to keep him out, even though she knows he'll break her heart.
As Alec slowly strips away Lexy's defences and the two embark on a summer romance she never wanted, their feelings grow to more than either expected. But nothing lasts forever, and reality intrudes.
As her world is shaken to it's core, Lexy's self made prediction comes true when she discovers she's spent six weeks surrounded by secrets. Kept out by her family and the only guy she's ever trusted, she falls apart.
And when Grammy tells her that 'you might not end up where you wanted to be, but you'll always end up where you're meant to be,' she has to figure out if her meant to be is back home in London, or if it's been in Devon the whole time.
