Playing For Keeps by Emma Hart Cover Reveal

I'm just going to hit you with it. 'Cause it's pretty and stuff. :)

I lurve it... :)

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Emma Hart, comes the second book in The Game series, and the story everyone wanted after The Love Game…

She's in love with him.
He's trying not to love her.
One night changes everything.
Aston Banks never meant to get close to Megan Harper – not even for that one night. Haunted by a childhood he refuses to face, he knew she could break through every wall he’d ever built and tear them down without even realising she was doing it.
Betraying Braden by starting a relationship with Aston wasn’t on Megan’s to-do list, but the second she sees a glimpse of someone other than the arrogant ass she’s come to know, she can’t walk away.
Aston’s childhood is worse than Megan ever guessed, but as he tries and fails to push her away, it’s clear her love is stronger than the demons that cling to him every day. And now, because of it, he finally has to deal with what he’s buried deep down.
What he doesn’t want to face. What he’s fought against for so long.
And they have to do it all without Braden finding out.
Keeping a relationship secret has never been harder.

**This book can be read as a standalone novel, but reading The Love Game (The Game, #1) beforehand is advised.)

Now I also have an exert for you as well :)

Disclaimer: This is from the unedited version of the book, and is therefore subject to change or removal before publication.

“If you’re trying to hide, babe, then you’re failing. I can see you.” Aston’s words crawl over me in a smooth caress, making my throat dry up and my blood boil simultaneously.

“Why would I be hiding?” I sit up and look forward, determined not to meet his eyes.

He shrugs a shoulder carelessly, twirling a pen between his fingers. I catch his every movement from the corner of my eye. His eyes are burning into the side of my head - they’re begging me to turn, begging me to look.

“Because you want me so badly you can’t bear to see me,” he says in a dramatic tone with a touch of arrogance.

My back straightens. “Clearly someone has been feeding your ego again,” I reply dryly. “Because I don’t remember ever telling you I want you.”

His bicep brushes mine as he leans forward. “Is that so?” he asks, his voice low and barely perceptible.

I fight the urge to drop my eyes to the desk. “Damn right it is.”

A fingertip trails down the back of my arm, the tingling feeling making me fight against a shiver.

“I think you’re wrong,” he whispers. “Because I’m pretty sure you said you wanted me on Saturday night – right before you dug those nails of yours into my back and wrapped your pretty little legs around my waist.”

My head snaps round to him, and our faces are inches apart. His lips are curled in a slightly smug smile, and I hate the fact that’s where my eyes fell first. I drag them away from his mouth and across the sharp planes of his face until they meet his smoky eyes.

I remember why I didn’t want to look at him. His eyes have the power to entrance me and to break me. Right now it’s the former – the silvery hint at the edge of his iris pulling me in and holding me captive. I remember why, from the first touch of his lips against mine on Saturday night, nothing could have stopped us happening.

Here's the pretty lady that wrote it! :)
By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to a terrible two year old and growing bump, due September 2013. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of juice and writes books.
She likes to write about magic, kisses and whatever else she can fit into the story. Sarcastic, witty characters are a must. As are hot guys.
Emma is currently working too many books to even count - including Playing for Keeps, the companion book to New York Times and USA Today bestselling novel, The Love Game. She likes to be busy - unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.

Keep On Keepin' On

I’m having a bad day today. Normally I try not to let things bother me. That’s right I said “try.” It’s hard as hell. But I’ve learned that through years and years and years of loss, disappointment, and bull crap.

Still, I have a million and one reasons to never give up. On anything. I’ve been known to be so down that I swear I’m giving up on something or someone. But it’s false. I’ve said the words out of hurt or anger. I know I shouldn’t, but it happens to the best of us. I’ll never do it. Giving up would likely break my heart.

My kids (daughter and step kids). They bring me joy, sadness, anger, pride. But I love each one of them and would do anything in my power for them.

My family.

My friends.

Pretty much everything is part of my reason for never giving up.

But I also have another reason. In 2000 my best friend committed suicide. It was painful, and for years I struggled with coping with his loss.

I keep his picture in the writing nook I created. I look at his photo and I remember the person he was, who he tried to be, what he taught me through the time I knew him and in his death. I remember what it was like to lose him the most. And I’d never wish that loss on anyone, though thousands have suffered that.

Those are my reasons for “keep on keepin’ on.”

If you’d like to share your reason, I’d love to hear it.

Everyone has their reasons they refuse to give up, the reason that when they have a bad day they get up and try again. They move on, press through the muck and weeds and come out on the other side dirtier, more tired, but proud.

Maybe you’re like me and have several reasons. Maybe you just have one. Whatever that reason is, don’t ever forget it. Hold it close to your heart, hold it tight and don’t let go.

Don’t. Give. Up.

How do you live with the gut clenching truth that the one you love will die if you meet them? Twenty year old sorcerer Scott Tabors is learning how. After seeing seventeen year old Olivia Whitehead outside of a coffee shop, his heart will never be the same. He longs for her, he wants her, and he knows she will be his. They are heart mates. …but due to a curse on his family, he can’t meet her. Not yet. So for now, he visits her in her dreams. Her dreams where he can tell her everything but his name.
<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->

Olivia Whitehead is a typical junior in high school. She and her best friend are having the time of their lives, but she can’t help but notice the changes happening to her. Especially the changes in her heart after she begins dreaming about a mysterious dark haired young man. But what will happen when the school heartthrob decides he wants Olivia? Will she realize the dream man is real or will she move on?

#1-Olivia’s POV

I’m outside. The moon is high and glowing, there are trees all around. This is a new location. I look around for Mr. Sexy, but I can’t see him anywhere, it’s too dark. Looking around, I realize this place is familiar. Wait…I’m in the field I was day dreaming about earlier. The soft green grass is like silk between my toes. There are yellow daisies everywhere. Trees line the perimeter, it’s almost like I’m in a box. I’m wearing my shorts and cami, but I’m not cold. The wind is blowing just enough to ruffle my hair. “Hello?” I call timidly. Nothing. It’s completely silent out, not even birds are chirping. I glance around and walk forward. My arms are wrapped around the front of me, not for warmth, but for comfort. I know I’m dreaming, but this is still kind of weird. I see a deer to my left, just watching me. She’s beautiful and majestic. She starts to come towards me the moment I wish I could pet her. My hand slowly reaches out and touches her course coat. Huge brown eyes look into mine, there’s no fear.

“You’re beautiful,” I whisper.
“So are you,” a deep voice says from behind me.

I turn violently, scaring the deer off into the trees. Mr. Sexy is standing five feet in front of me. Jeans and a fitted white t-shirt clothe his fit body.

<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->
“You’re here.”
“Of course I am, where else would I be?”
“I thought…well I wasn’t sure if this was our dream or just mine.”
“It’s ours Livvie, it’s ours. Always ours.”

#2-Olivia’s POV

Aiden followed closely behind me. We sat and our hands brushed as we both reached for the same arm rest. I giggled with embarrassment and moved the opposite rest instead. I breathed deeply, trying to relax myself before the theater went dark. I moved my eyes slightly, trying to get a sideways glance at Aiden. His chiseled face looked as stormy and dangerous from his profile as his eyes did from the front.  As I studied him, he seemed to sense me and turned slowly. His eyes seemed to swallow my soul and I felt my hand moving toward his. Just as I was inches from gripping his fingers, J cleared her throat behind me.

My mind seemed to clear, like the fog lifting from the ground. I turned slowly, almost feeling like my mind and body were not my own anymore. I looked at J, my eyes looking deep into hers but my mind still felt disconnected. I felt like I was screaming inside, like I was trapped in my own body.
The voice coming from mouth didn’t seem like my own. It sounded distant and disconnected.
She reached out grabbed my arm, gripping me tightly and shaking me slightly.
“Liv, what’s wrong?”
I glanced back at Aiden, still looking like a wild storm brewing, and I shrugged my shoulders in confusion.

#3-Scott’s POV

My reflection was much calmer than my inside. I was an absolute wreck inside, worried and scared about the events that would happen tonight at the dance. Wearing black dress pants and a white buttoned shirt, I looked dressed up enough to blend in if I had to go in the building for any reason. My pockets were loaded with stunning charms that would stun the attacker if I threw them at him. I had a knife in my back pocket, big enough to do damage if needed. I didn’t want this fight to become that violent, but I was prepared to protect Livvie if I had to.

Mark had similar charms and weapons to guard himself with. I had given them to him after he had left school. Grandma and Sadie were prepared with spells they had memorized. Immobilizing spells, memory erasing spells (for the dance goers), slumber charms, and they had found a few control spells that would be handy if we needed the crowd to leave without putting up a fight. Overall, I felt that we were well prepared. I couldn’t help the sinking feeling in the pit of stomach, a feeling that told me The Crimson Calamitous was much stronger and this may all be for naught.

Pssst! Release Date Revealed!

This journey, writing True Connection, it's been... long, exciting, scary, annoying, and almost any other adjective. Except maybe disgusting, yea, it hasnt been that. But I have learned so much, met tons of people, and gained relationships that I wouldnt trade for anything.
I won't make you read tons and tons of rambling. I just wanted to let you all know that I'm announcing the release date.
Right Now
July 15, 2013

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled. I'll be sharing MORE teasers. Better ones :)

So where is it now? Why can't you read it now?

True Connection is in the hands of proofreaders. They are checking for those silly little booboos I make. "I'm not sure if that needs a comma." "Is this supposed to be capatalized?" "Hey! I can't believe I didn't catch that error!" - That kind of stuff and probably things I didn't even realize. Then one more round, I have a handful of strangers that haven't ever heard of me that will be reading True Connection.
I'll be doing a blog tour as well. I'll have a sign up document posted soon.
Okay, that's all!

Always Remember Blog Tour

Alright ladies and gents, the lovely and talented Emma Hart has released yet another masterpiece.

Always Remember is… Can you believe I have no words?

Okay, of course I have words. But none that compare to the book honestly.

Emma Hart has awesomesauce filling her brain. This book had me laughing, snorting, crying, ready to jump through the screen (or pages) to knock some heads or string someone up by their britches to the ceiling with an extension cord. LOL. I also reread a few lines, and paragraphs and just went “Awwwwww!” I loved it. And that’s my reason for saying – GO GET IT! YOU NEED THIS BOOK!

How long does it take for a long-distance relationship to break down? Sixteen months.
When Jen and Carl put their relationship to rest after Christmas, Jen’s biggest problem is going back to London ten days earlier than planned – and her ever-present attraction to Samuel ‘Bing’ Edwards.
Bing has no idea why Jen left Devon so fast. All he knows is that he wants her as much as he did the first day he laid eyes on her – so spending time with her while Lexy is still in Devon isn’t exactly a hardship for him. When he finds out she’s single, the only thing on his mind is finishing what they started at his dad’s fiftieth birthday party.
Feelings that have been a long time building between the two explode, and they both find themselves sucked into an easy yet passionate relationship, with Bing determined to prove to Jen that she’s it for him. That she is The One.
But in a city like London, the odds are stacked against them, and there’s always that one person ready to stir things up… And Jen doesn’t know how much of that she can take – even for the guy she loves more deeply than she ever imagined, and eventually she breaks.
Bing isn’t down with that. He wants Jen, and he wants her by his side for good.

Jennifer Mason must learn that Samuel Edwards doesn’t do giving up. Especially not when his forever girl is involved.

 Buy it here-

Now, on to the fun stuff!

I’m doing a dream cast. Well, not really my dream cast. If it was, Johnny Depp would play Bing and Jensen Ackles would play Alec and Jen and Lexy would go to a strip club and see the cast of Magic Mike.

There you have it…

No, I’m kidding. Maybe. Hey, Emma… Johnny Depp could make an appearance in a bar scene… Captain Jack Sparrow would probably fit right in with that crowd…
He'll bring the Rum...
See, he'd fit right in, no one would even notice... Considering that’s where crayola ***** comes in... Okay, *smacks fingers*

Here we go!

I’m starting with the hottie that spurred the partnership between Emma and I. This guy, *swoons* I love him. And in my head he’s older so I don’t feel like a cougar *coughs* Now, you might picture these guys differently, but I’m terrible at finding people to match characters… (Ask Emma if you don’t believe me! LOL)

Matt Lanter, he could totally pull off being Alec. Those eyes, that smile and the hair.

Next up, Lexy.

Lucy Hale. This one took me the longest to find the best match. And honestly there might be a better one, and I don’t even know if she can pull off the Britishness that’d be required. But she’s pretty, and sassy

Onto the stars of Always Remember…

My girl, Jen…

Brit Morgan. She looks all nice and sweet right? But I bet she could harness the sass and snark that is Jen.

And then there’s Bing… err… Sam

The one who can handle her, hold her, love her, and dish it right back…

Ryan Sypek.
Oh, I did NOT forget Crayola, err... This is Heidi…
Lindsey Lohan. Now, I know it’s probably not very nice of me to judge or anything like that. I have no idea what she’s doing now or anything that she’s done. But really, look at that pic. Now you tell me. Psychotic ex or girl next door?
Anyway, There you have it.
In honor of this being the last *sniffles* in the Memories Series... here's the purchase links to the rest of the series!
Never Forget (Memories #1)
Holding On (Memories #1.5)
Keep up with the tour and catch everything! Posting with me today is Megan. Tomorrow be sure to visit Kim and Triin

True Connection updates!!

Okie dokie. Lotsa lotsa updates! :) EEEP!

I have finished ALL revisions! Start to finish! Bam, done.
Beta readers have read it and I got tons of positive feedback, slight adjustments and booboos but, positive feedback (yay!) Well, I've heard from 6 of 7, the last one is busier than the others and hasnt finished yet, but he's given me positive feedback for as far as he's gotten. So, there's that.
I completed my edits! WOOHOOO!
Now, it's in the editor's hands and I'm just waiting for word from her, then I'll have two rounds of proofreading and True Connection will be in your hands.
^ That's what my aim is. I have a date picked out in my head for my goal, but I'm not giving that out just yet... I'm still expecting another bump. Hoping for none, but you know how that happens. And, if you know me, I'm a worrier and a planner. A combination that does not always go well together. Haha!

Another update... I am writing.
It's not the one the I was aiming for my next release. Those characters are being awfully silent at the moment. So I'll *maybe* post a snippet of that later on. It's NA, and I'm having fun with it. :)

Also, I am revising Book Two in The Soul Mates Series. Yay! I know my Beta's will be happy to hear that. After I finished the first draft of True Connection, I started pounding the keys for book two. After writing 80k I wasnt happy with where things went, so I back tracked a bit. Then there was a hiccup with True Connection, it allowed me time to think and ponder some things, big things, and my CP (Emma Hart) and I talked everything out and that started the heavy revisions. So with those revisions, even more needs to change book two. Sounds complicated, but it's not. It'll be more of a pain in the tooshie than anything. But, they're all good changes. I'm excited.

So enough of my ramblings that probably doesnt make too much sense. I do have something to share with you.
In True Connection (and the series) the chapters are titled. So I thought I'd share a few of my favorite chapters with you. (Note: not the actual order in the book.)

Did not see that coming
The town loon speaks the truth

And I'm stopping there. Why? Because I might give out each chapter title, and... I might do that. But not tonight. ;)
Hope you've enjoyed my updates and the teeny tiny inside scoop. Come back again, I'm sure I'll post something more

David James is awesome.

Here's chapter one!

Chapter One

I opened my eyes to darkness closing in, to phantom voices screaming. To the world falling.
I closed my eyes against heavy memories, but they only flared brighter, living like eternal ghosts in the darkness beneath my blanket, so cruel they would never leave completely.
Still, I tried to make them fade to something less. Tried to squeeze my eyes so tightly closed that the voices in my head were destroyed by black and white spots of nothing. But even when the voices became whispers barely more than breathing, the darkness still sounded with the pain of two years ago.
There were some ghosts that would never be free, some dark memories that would never find light.

“Open your eyes, Zack!” Warden shouted, her voice cracking in the dark, hollow room. “I know you ain’t sleeping you little mutt.”
I closed my eyes tighter.
Let my lungs burn and scream for air.
Kept my body still as death.
This close, I could taste her breath against my face: a fetid cloud of warm, damp air.
She spat, “You don’t get up now and there’ll be no breakfast for you, I’ll make sure of it.”
I pretended I was dead.
There was a moment of silence.
something heavy flying through the air-
rushing wind storming against it-
and her hand connected with my still face.
I couldn’t help it: my mouth opened and a gasp escaped into the cold morning like fog. I sucked air back in and felt the frigid winter hurt deep inside me. My eyes burst open and, in that moment, I saw the room shine bright with a hundred violent stars; thirty beds lined perfectly against the walls like lonely white graves.
“I knew it!” Warden’s laugh blew in my face. “I knew you were faking. All you boys think you get the best of me. Well, I got news for you. You get the best of no one. You hear me, Zack? That’s why you’re in this place to begin with. You ain’t never leaving, either. Just like the rest. This is all you got. Ain’t much but guess what? It’s the best you’ll ever get no matter how hard you try.”
I closed my eyes again and turned away, pulled the stiff sheet over my head and buried myself deeper.
“You can hide those half-breed green eyes all you want,” she said against the sounds of her tongue slapping in and out of her mouth. Her voice spilled out in slurs of words that never stopped. “But I see the way those eyes of yours look
around, see who they crave most of all. I see what you are. Unnatural. Thinking boys could love you like girls should.”
Her breathing got louder as she moved close; the sheet became a ghost, puffing in and out with her heavy sighs.
The ghost whispered, “And let me tell you this: You got no one. No boy, no one at all, will ever love a pathetic little half-breed mutt like you.”
Her laugh cut the air as she scraped a nail down the sheet near my face. I opened my eyes slightly and could see the haunted white poke down against a blood-red nail.
She whispered, “You will never be anything more than a lost boy in this orphanage, Zack.” The sheet popped back. “You are nothing but a sick dirty mutt child. You want a family? Too bad. No one wants a ten-year-old boy. Not one that looks like he rolled in mud.”
I wanted death.
As Warden raised her hand once more, I closed my eyes and pretended.

“I know you’re awake,” said a voice against my closed eyes. “I can see your lips moving, and you’re breathing too heavily to be asleep. Saol just taught us to look for those signs yesterday, Zack.”
My eyes fluttered open, and I saw a girl peeking just over my bunk, her eyes shining against her tan, golden skin; bright violet suns in the dim light of the empty dorm. A slight smile pulled at one side of her mouth.
“Your hair looks like it got in a fight with Saol and lost,” Kate said. “Not that you could ever beat someone like Saol anyway. Good dreams?”
I almost laughed. “Not even slightly.”
“Me neither.”
I stretched my arms behind my head and yawned. “I’m beginning to think that’s a requirement for being in the Order. No one I’ve met here ever has anything but nightmares.”
“Well, now I understand why Taliah always looks like she’s smelling something nasty. Must be all those bad dreams.” She grinned. Her smile lit up her face and I found myself reminded that she was pretty in the same way a hurricane was; dangerous and deadly beautiful.

Here's the mastermind that makes me wish I could build a fort in his brain. (I'll admit it, total fangirl. STILL, you hear that Boss Man? You rock! <3 )
